For parents.
Is your son or daughter moving into student accommodation? That’s a big step, for you as a parent too. Here you’ll find everything you want to know: who we are, what it costs, which agreements apply and who you can contact.
Who is Cobane?
Cobane is run by John and Eline. We manage all our residences ourselves, so you and your child always deal with us directly, from the first visit to the end of the lease. No anonymous letting agency, just familiar faces. And Vic, our office dog.
One fixed amount, no surprises.
The rent is all-in: electricity, gas, water, waste collection and internet are included. You pay one fixed amount every month. There is no final settlement, so no surprises at the end of the year.
Only in these cases is there an extra charge:
- your own fridge, air conditioning or extra heating: €20 per month;
- two people living in one room: €60 per month.
Lease and deposit.
- The lease always runs for 12 months.
- The deposit is two months’ rent. You pay it into Cobane’s bank account or arrange it through an institution such as Korfine or your bank.
- The room is only secured once the lease is signed and the deposit has been paid.
- Is your child going on Erasmus or an internship? Then, in agreement with Cobane, a replacement tenant can take over the room.
Living in the residence.
- Depending on the residence, the room is furnished (bed, desk and wardrobe) or unfurnished.
- For hygiene reasons, students always bring their own mattress and desk chair.
- Cobane cleans the shared areas every week and puts the bins out.
- Students keep their own room clean and do their own dishes.
- When moving out, we expect the room to be returned in the best possible condition: cleaned, with no marks on the walls and no holes (for example from nails or screws).
- Every residence has bike storage.
- Any damage or problem? Your child reports it to Cobane straight away.
Checklist for parents.
- Come to a viewing day together and see the room.
- Read the lease and the agreements together.
